Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium Funding is allocated to all maintained schools according to the number of children who are currently who are deemed to be ‘looked after’ by the Local Authority or known to be eligible (or have been eligible at any point in the last six years) for Free School Meals. Service Premium is also allocated for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces or have been within the last five years.
The Government believes that Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding reaches the pupils who need it most. It is for the schools to decide how this additional funding is spent. This must be accountable by showing the impact the funding has on supporting disadvantage children with their learning to ensure good attainment and progress.
At Petersgate a tiered approach is used to achieve this. This includes high quality teaching, targeted academic support, and wider strategies. The strategies used are based on research on the most effective practices including the EEF Teaching and Learning Toolkit and DFE guidance to support disadvantage pupils and achievement.
Please see below for our Pupil Premium Strategy for 2022 – 2023. This statement details how our school plans to use Pupil Premium funding to help improve the attainment of our disadvantaged pupils. It outlines our Pupil Premium strategy and the impact of last year’s funding and how we intend to spend the current funding.
