Year 2 had an amazing day visiting Portchester castle today to kick-start their topic on castles. We spent the day finding out about all the features of a castle and exploring where they were. Angus loved finding out about how the tidal moat filled up and we watched the water level rise throughout the day! Noah enjoyed going in the church the best. Evie was proud of herself as she climbed to the top of the keep and despite the wind enjoyed the view. Freya was keen to find out about how the guards were able to walk along the thick, stone castle walls to walk along the ramparts. Mrs Edwards loved playing knights but sadly was shot down by the defending guards at the castle!!! Mrs Maudsley was pleased with everyone’s fantastic behaviour and was excited because she had never seen the moat so full of water! What an amazing day we all had!
